P. S. Krøyer (1851-1909). Unique handcarved wine barrel cradle of patinated and painted wood, one side with Satyr the other with grapes and inscribed dedication to Frits Lange ( 1842-1907) signed twice “S. Krøyer Schloss Gandegg Dec. 1900” and on the other side “SK. Schloss Gandegg Decbr 1900.” H. 46, B. 37, L. 28 cm. Contact for condition report.



History:

In the year 1900 when P. S. Krøyer was on the top of his career and with international acclaim. He was admitted to “Middelfart sindssygehospital” and diagnosed with “Dementia paralytica” by his doctor Fritz Lange.

This unique wine barrel cradle was a gift of appreciation from P. S. Krøyer to his doctor Frits Lange, made in the same year he was hospitalized.
